A Greater Portion of Patience | Exodus 32:1–14
Dn Demetrius Springer | Senior Pastor | Third Church
We want God to hurry up when it comes to our blessings, but we ought to thank God He’s been patient when it comes to our judgment!
We live in a world of instant gratification. Fast food, same-day deliveries, and microwave meals have conditioned us to expect everything RIGHT NOW! But what happens when God doesn’t move according to our timetable?
In Exodus 32:1–14, the children of Israel grew impatient while Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai. Rather than trusting God’s timing, they took matters into their own hands and created a golden calf. Yet, despite their rebellion, God demonstrated extraordinary patience and mercy.
In this powerful message, “A Greater Portion of Patience,” Dn Demetrius Springer reminds us that while we often struggle to be patient with God and one another, God has shown us more patience than we could ever deserve.
Three truths we’ll explore:
- We Are Impatient with God — When God doesn’t move according to our schedule, will we continue to trust Him?
- We Are Impatient with One Another — Why do we expect grace for ourselves but struggle to extend it to others?
- But God Is Patient with Us — Despite our failures, disobedience, and shortcomings, God continues to extend His mercy and offer opportunities for repentance.
Sometimes, while we’re waiting for God to change our circumstances, God is patiently working to change us.
